Ahead of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted comprehensive long-range patrolling and an anti-terror mock drill on Tuesday in Samba district. This exercise aimed to assess operational preparedness, strengthen security arrangements, and ensure a prompt response to potential contingencies, a police official stated.
The long-range patrolling was led by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. They covered nearly 20 kilometers, traversing from Jatwal to Lala Chak along the busy Jammu-Pathankot national highway. This crucial route plays a significant role in facilitating movement and ensuring safety in the region.
Following the long-range patrol, police personnel conducted a mock drill at the border police post in Lala Chak. This assessment aimed to evaluate the readiness of officers in handling a simulated terror attack scenario. During the exercise, two individuals portrayed terrorists attacking a strategic establishment.
In response to the simulated crisis, the SOG quickly established a cordon around the area, effectively neutralizing the threat posed by the mock attackers. According to the police spokesman, the exercise aimed to meticulously test the response mechanisms, coordination among units, tactical preparedness, and capabilities for handling such contingencies.
Samba’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Anuj Kumar, emphasized the police’s unwavering commitment to maintaining robust security measures. He assured the public of their safety during the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. Kumar reiterated that proactive strategies and continuous drills, such as this one, significantly enhance the police force’s efficiency in safeguarding the community.
As part of their intensified security protocol, the Jammu and Kashmir Police remain vigilant during this period, particularly in light of the potential threats that often accompany national celebrations.
