Jammu: On Tuesday, Satish Sharma, Pradesh Congress General Secretary and former Chairman of Jammu Municipal Corporation, met Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary at the Kashmir Secretariat. During this crucial meeting, Sharma submitted a memorandum addressing several pressing public issues, prominently demanding Sub-District Hospital status for Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Gangyal.
Sharma emphasized that granting Sub-District Hospital status to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital is a vital need for the Gangyal community. The local population has been growing steadily, and many residents rely heavily on this hospital for their healthcare needs. “The upgrade would enable the hospital to attract specialist doctors, better medical staff, and modern medical equipment,” Sharma stated, highlighting the urgent need for improved medical infrastructure.
Currently, residents of Gangyal must travel to distant hospitals for various health issues, adding undue stress to their already challenging lives. “If Rajiv Gandhi Hospital receives Sub-District status, local people can access essential healthcare services much closer to home,” he asserted.
In addition to healthcare, Sharma also advocated for better road conditions in Gangyal. He requested an immediate survey of local roads, stressing the need for blacktopping due to their deteriorating state. “The poor condition of roads not only inconveniences local residents but also poses daily travel challenges for students and all vehicle users,” Sharma pointed out.
Furthermore, the memorandum included a call for the reconstruction of the damaged bridge over the canal at Bawaliana. Sharma noted that its poor state causes serious commuting issues, especially during the rainy season when conditions worsen significantly. “It is critical to reconstruct this bridge promptly to alleviate transport problems for residents,” he added.
Sharma also addressed infrastructure concerns in Dadap Panchayat, insisting on the need for proper road construction. He explained that inadequate road connectivity hampers local development and significantly affects the day-to-day lives of Panchayat residents. “Building a new road will ensure better access for residents, facilitating overall development in the area,” he stressed.
In response, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary expressed his commitment to addressing Sharma’s concerns. He assured Sharma that all demands would be prioritized, pledging to direct the relevant officials to resolve these issues promptly. “We will take immediate steps to ensure that the needs of the residents are met without delay,” Choudhary confirmed.
This meeting marks an essential step towards advocating for improved healthcare and infrastructure in the Gangyal area, reflecting the ongoing efforts of local leaders to enhance the quality of life for residents.
