A fresh batch of 964 pilgrims embarking on the Shri Amarnath Yatra left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu for the Baltal base camp on Tuesday morning at 3.05 a.m. Under tight security arrangements, the group travelled in a convoy consisting of 39 vehicles, including 21 buses, eight medium motor vehicles, and 10 light motor vehicles.
This 27th batch comprised 744 men, 177 women, one child, 32 sadhus, and 10 sadhvis. The departure of this group adds to the growing numbers of pilgrims participating in the yatra this year, with the total count of those who have left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp now reaching a remarkable 1,41,712. Officials confirmed that the pilgrimage has maintained its smooth operation under stringent security measures.
As the 27th batch set off, another convoy, designated as the 25th return convoy, was also en route carrying pilgrims back to Jammu from the Baltal base camp.
The return convoy included 2,073 pilgrims, comprising 1,552 men, 461 women, 11 children, 41 sadhus, and eight sadhvis. Authorities organized this segment of the journey in 63 vehicles, which encompassed 42 heavy motor vehicles, six medium motor vehicles, 14 light motor vehicles, and one truck. This efficient organization supports the seamless flow of pilgrim traffic.
Officials reiterated that the annual pilgrimage continues onward under multi-layered security arrangements, ensuring both upward and downward convoys adhere to the planned schedule. The commitment to safety and organization showcases the dedication of authorities in facilitating this revered spiritual journey for hundreds of thousands of devotees.
