Three suspected drug peddlers, including a 17-year-old boy, have been arrested with heroin in Samba and Kathua districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Police made the arrests late Sunday evening, demonstrating their stringent action against narcotics.
The police intercepted the teenager while he was riding a motorcycle from Balole Khad towards JDA Colony in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba. A police spokesperson confirmed the arrest and stated that during the checking, officers recovered 3.36 grams of heroin from the boy’s possession.
The police seized the motorcycle along with the contraband. Authorities registered a case against the teenager under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Following the legal proceedings, he was presented to the competent authority and subsequently sent to the observation home in R S Pura, Jammu.
In a separate operation, the police conducted checks in the Galak area of Billawar, Kathua district, and arrested two additional narcotics smugglers. During this operation, officers seized 23 grams of heroin from the suspects. The arrested individuals are Pawan Dev Singh from Majalta (Udhampur) and Naresh Singh from Makwal-Ramkot (Kathua).
Authorities invoked the NDPS Act against both men, intensifying their crackdown on drug trafficking in the region. The rising instances of drug-related crimes have caused concern among local communities and law enforcement agencies alike.
