_ADDC Kishtwar Inaugurates the Sporting Extravaganza_

The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YS&S) Kishtwar launched the much-anticipated Inter Zonal District Level Tournament for U/14 and U/17 Boys and Girls across multiple sports disciplines with a vibrant and energetic inaugural ceremony held at the historic Chowgan Ground Kishtwar.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Sh. Pawan Kotwal (JKAS), who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
He officially declared the tournament open amid enthusiastic cheers from hundreds of participating student-athletes, officials, and spectators.
The event was held under the overall supervision of District Youth Services & Sports Officer Kishtwar, Sh. Jaffer Haider Sheikh, who has been instrumental in mobilizing zonal-level sports officials, coaches to ensure a smooth and inclusive tournament experience.
A well-coordinated march past by teams from various zones of the district marked the ceremonial start, followed by an National Anthem, oath-taking ceremony led by young athletes, pledging commitment to sportsmanship and fair play.
The atmosphere was charged with patriotic fervor and youthful energy as cultural performances and motivational addresses inspired the gathering.
In his address, ADDC Sh. Pawan Kotwal emphasized the role of sports in holistic youth development, stating, “Such tournaments not only build physical fitness and discipline but also foster unity and brotherhood among students from all corners of the district. The administration is committed to strengthening sports infrastructure and opportunities for our youth.”
The Inter-Zonal Tournament features a wide array of sports including Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, among others, with boys and girls participating in both U/14 and U/17 age categories. Matches and events are scheduled to take place across various venues including HSS Boys Kishtwar, ITI Indoor Stadium, and Chowgan Ground throughout the week.
DYSSO Kishtwar in his welcome note expressed gratitude to the district administration and stakeholders for their continuous support. He added, “This tournament is not just about competition — it’s about nurturing the spirit of teamwork, talent identification, and channelizing the energy of youth into constructive pursuits.”
The event also witnessed the presence of ZPEOs, PEMs, PETs, REKs, NYC volunteers, and other officials, whose behind-the-scenes efforts have been crucial in organizing this district-wide initiative.
