The Department of Handicrafts and Handloom, Kishtwar, organized a Trainee Orientation Program at Bagana, a project-affected site of the Kawar Hydro Electric Power Project (HEPP).
During the program, the Assistant Director, Handicrafts and Handloom Kishtwar Sh. Pardeep Shan,JKAS briefed the trainees about the upcoming Training Center for Cutting and Tailoring at Bagana under the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) plan.
To facilitate participation, the department provided doorstep delivery of application forms, eliminating the need for the ladies to visit the DC office.
The department’s efforts aim to cover more trainees under the Skill Development Plan (R&R) of HEPP, empowering women and dependent family members through training in home-based livelihood and micro-entrepreneurial skills, enabling local income generation, developing new and innovative designs, expanding the product range, and enhancing market competitiveness.
The program was attended by Pinak Sen, AHTO, Handicrafts; Omkar Chand, Wheat Straw Craft Instructor; Abid and Arif, Supervisors, INDUSCO; and the Carpet Center Incharge.
