The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kishtwar today organized an awareness programme under the guidance of Sh. Sudhir Kumar Khajuria, Chairman, DLSA Kishtwar, and the supervision of Sh. Slahuddin Ahmed, Secretary, DLSA Kishtwar, at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Kishtwar. The focus of the programme was on the Rights of Disaster Victims.
The initiative aimed to educate students and the general public about legal entitlements, support mechanisms, and the role of legal aid during disasters.
The event was graced by the presence of Shri Naveed Khurshid, Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Kishtwar, along with the staff of ITI Kishtwar and Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) associated with DLSA Kishtwar.
The programme was led by Mr. Sanveer Singh (Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel), Mr. Vinay Shan (Assistant LADC), and Mr. Sandeep Kumar (Assistant LADC), who sensitized participants on the legal frameworks and welfare measures available to disaster victims under various laws and government schemes.
During the session, the speakers emphasized the importance of timely legal assistance for disaster-affected individuals and families.
They elaborated on how DLSA and the Legal Aid Defense Counsel System play a pivotal role in ensuring justice and support for vulnerable sections of society during emergencies.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, where participants raised queries and received guidance on available legal remedies and support structures.
