Srinagar_ Sep 18 (TNF): The first phase of polling in 24 constituencies across seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir was conducted peacefully, with no reports of untoward incidents.
Security forces, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), were on alert to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election process.
Authorities expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the polling, crediting the diligent efforts of the security forces for the smooth operation. “Our personnel were on their toes throughout the day to ensure that voters could exercise their democratic rights without fear,” said a senior police official. “Their dedication has ensured a peaceful atmosphere, enabling a high voter turnout.”
As per KNS, the security arrangements were extensive, with multiple layers of deployment to prevent any disruptions.
Checkpoints were set up at strategic locations, and patrolling was intensified in sensitive areas. The presence of security forces at polling stations was intended not only to deter potential troublemakers but also to instill confidence among voters.
Polling in these seven districts had been closely monitored due to concerns about security especially in some sensitive areas. However, the comprehensive measures implemented by the authorities effectively mitigated these risks.
“The coordination between the police, CRPF, and CAPFs was commendable,” noted an election official overseeing the process.
