District Police Kishtwar has achieved a significant breakthrough in its anti-drug campaign, codenamed “Operation Sanjeevani,” with the arrest of 02 notorious drug peddlers and the recovery of a heroin-like substance.
SSP Kishtwar Sh. Abdul Qayoom-JKPS, while divulging the details, said that information was developed regarding the smuggling and sale of narcotics among the youth in the Akhyarabad waseer kund area of Kishtwar by one notorious drug peddlers, namely Mudassir Hussain S/O Aziz Mohd R/o Thakrie caste Sheikh presently residing at waseer kund Mohalla Kishtwar, and is having Herione like drug in his possession. On this information, a case FIR No. 179/2024 U/Sec. 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at PS Kishtwar. A team led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar and supervised by Dy SP Hqrs Kishtwar, raided the rented accommodation of accused person. During the search, 06 grams of a heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession along with cash ₹32,900 , and aluminum foil.
Moreover, in the evening hours , a patrolling party from PP Shalimar noticed the suspicious behavior of one person attempting to evade the patrol near Sarthal Morh kishtwar. Acting swiftly, the team apprehended him, resulting in the recovery of a heroin-like substance weighing about 2 grams. The accused disclosed his identity as Haris Hussain S/o Rifat Hussain R/o caste Najar kotwal Mohalla Kishtwar. In this regard, case FIR No. 180/2024 U/Sec. 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at PS Kishtwar and an investigation was taken up.
SSP Kishtwar emphasized that the investigating officer has been instructed to thoroughly examine the backward and forward linkages in the case, including scrutinizing the bank account statements of the accused persons. This is to ensure that all individuals involved in the illegal trade of narcotic substances are brought to justice under the relevant provisions of the law.
SSP Kishtwar urged the general public of the district to come forward with any information related to the illegal drug trade.
