In a determined effort to combat illegal activities, District Police of Kishtwar successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle bovines, rescuing the animals and seizing the vehicle involved in the illicit activity. The operation took place at Sinthan Top/Sayedani Top.
A dedicated police team from Police Station Chatroo led by SHO PS Chatroo conducted a surprise Naka checking and intercepted two vehicles bearing registration No. JK03N-2386 and JK03L 8270 at Sinthan Top, en route to Daksum. The accused, who are from the Anantnag Daksum Larnoo area of Anantnag district, were arrested on the spot, and the vehicles were seized.
In a separate incident, another police party rescued bovines at Sadyani Top, adjoining Doda district, from smugglers attempting to transport them towards Kokernag, Anantnag. The arrested individuals are identified as:
Nazam-Ud-Din Beig, S/o Abdul Aziz Beig, R/o Chaiward, Kokernag, District Anantnag.
Gulzar Ahmed Khari, S/o Haleem Khari, R/o Chadwail, Dandipora, Vailoo, District Anantnag.
Sabzar Ahmed, S/o Wali Mohd Bhatt, R/o Bhatt Pora, Larnoo.
Zaffar Ahmed, S/o Bashir Ahmed, R/o Bhatt Pora, Larnoo, District Anantnag.
In this regard 03 FIRs have been registered at Police Station Chatroo under relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is underway.
SSP Kishtwar has issued a stern warning to all bovine smugglers and vehicle owners, stating that anyone found involved in such activities will face strict legal action. He also declared that all entry and exit points for bovine smugglers will be permanently monitored.
Additionally, bovine smugglers from the Kashmir Valley are warned against engaging in these activities in the Kishtwar area. Those who disregard this warning will face severe legal consequences.
